From 10-13 June, over 1,200 campers gathered at the Putrajaya Marriott for Cornerstone’s annual family camp. Each year’s camp is a clarion call for Cornerstone to move forward into the purposes of God, and this year’s theme, “Our Dwelling Place for All Generations” created an expectation for Cornerstonians to hunger for more of God’s glory corporately and individually.
Laying the foundations of creating a climate of expectancy on the first evening, Reverend Celia Apeagyei-Collins preached on the importance of establishing a climate conducive to allowing the presence of God to remain. “Our flourishing depends on our habitation,” she said. Thankfulness is the key!
Pastor Joe Sweet came the next morning to stir up a hunger for the glory of God. Drawing from first-hand experiences, he shared unusual signs – gold flakes on his glasses, oil dripping from his finger while he was worshipping – repeated occurrences that were also seen by his children.
God told Pastor Joe that His glory is a sure thing, and we are being prepared to see His glory.
“What is the glory of God? It is the realm of Christ where His character and nature are manifest. It is the love of God,” he said.
Pastor Joe also preached Ephesians 1 through Ephesians 4 where God’s intention is for every believer to be filled with the fullness of God and continued in the next session with steps to love found in 2 Peter 1.
Position, Poster, and the Progressive Vision of Zion
Building upon the messages, Pastor Nicky Raiborde drew a lesson from the rock badgers in Proverbs 30. encouraging us to position ourselves by properly positioning our hearts, lives, and relationships. “May the Lord take you and position you in the right place to give you all that He has for you,” he said.
And after position is posture: Rev. Celia preached on the third day a reminder to stay in a posture of seeking shelter, under the Rock who is God. It will be a place of constant victory, where intimacy with God will allow us to understand His strategies for the battles we are placed in. “When we are in the right posture, we can say “Bring it on!”, she encouraged.
In the final session, Pastor Yang preached about the vision of Zion - the call to press on toward spiritual Mount Zion, the dwelling place of the Lord. That morning, the call moved beyond a corporate one to become a personal response for many at the altar area, as people responded to have the vision of Zion birthed in their hearts.
A CampFirst: 6.30am Prayer Meeting
For the first time at our Family Camp, we held Friends of the Holy Spirit prayer meetings on Days 2 and 3. It was such a treat to experience virtually “real-time” downloads, where Chris Berglund shared the dreams he had while at camp.
And Definitely not a Camp Last: the Return of Bom Cha Cha
Reprising his role from Family Camp 2012, Dennis Milner, who was one-third of the three-man emcee team from that year (called “Bom Cha Cha”) proved that his jokes got better with age. This year, he was joined by Elijah “Make some noise!” Chinnappan. Representing the older and younger generations, the pair helmed an evening of audience games, crazy videos, and the evergreen stage sabo dance-offs.
To wrap up the camp on the final day, the youth and children attending the family camp were gathered in front to be prayed for, and leaders representing the different congregations spoke a blessing over them in English, Mandarin, Bahasa Indonesia, and Tagalog, as the rest prayed in agreement. It was a significant moment for the Cornerstone family, and one we believe will go a long way in the lives of these young ones.
Camp gets better every year… will you join us at the next one in 2025? Be sure to mark 2-5 June 2025 on your calendars!
