The Daily Feed (TDF) is a Generations’ initiative intended to build a culture of Bible-reading among
our youths, while TDF Day is held annually to encourage them to look back on a year of Bible reading and to highlight who Christ is, as revealed through the Word.
Last year, the theme was from Ephesians 5:26-27, “That He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.”
Through last year’s TDF Day, we hoped that the Rhema Word would come to life for the youths and bring spiritual cleansing, preparing them for the union of Christ and the Church. As the theme of a wedding feast was new to many youths, the event aimed to make the topic more approachable while retaining the intentionality of each segment and the weight of the subject.
TDF Day was run over two days; Day 1 with two workshops, and Day 2 with the youth service. They were named “Bridal Preparations” and “The Wedding” respectively. During the first workshop, the youths focused on communal scripture reading. Groups of youths came together to read John 1, and after which they discussed their personal insights from the Word and prayed together. Questions were raised by various youths, and Christ was revealed through the community and the scripture reading. Many youths responded to the Word during the time of worship and left with new revelations they gained from their peers or through their
personal reading time. We hope that this experience of the “Word made Flesh” will motivate Geners to read the Bible more consistently and discover more of Jesus.
In the second workshop, singer-songwriter, Josh Yeoh and his team from RiverLife Church were invited to conduct a workshop on worshipping with the Word. The team led us through a time of meditation on the Word by reading and writing key verses, followed by singing them and praying the scripture. The youths were made
to apply their learning immediately after the teaching through different rounds of practice, which some found to
be slightly embarrassing but fun. It was a fruitful time of equipping, and we saw how the Spirit and the Word could come together by combining the reading of scriptures with worship.
The next day, many Geners came dressed to the nines, in preparation for “The Wedding”, which included a pre-service reception of food, “live” drawing booths, and photobooths. The youths were filled with so much energy, and their joy and delight was evident throughout the in-house gameshow and praise and worship. Josh Yeoh shared from the Parable of the Ten Virgins and touched on the concept of the Bride and the Bridegroom and the importance of preparing for Jesus’ coming. He spoke on how personal intimacy with Christ is key to sanctification. Geners of all ages were seen encountering the beauty of Christ during response time. One of the youths mentioned that TDF Day introduced a new facet of Christ to her, knowing that He is our heavenly Bridegroom, and the church is His Bride. Another youth leader also described the service as “pivotal” for Generations as this brought an intermediate understanding of who Christ is, which is especially important in
current times.
Through TDF Day, we hope that Generations will continue growing in intimacy and communion with the Lord
through the Word till we see Him face to face again.
