For the very first time in the history of Cornerstone, our network churches joined the rest of the Cornerstone family virtually for Global Vision Sunday on 31 Jan 2021. There was such a sense of unity, excitement and expectancy that filled the online space as people from 12 nations tuned in on Facebook and Youtube. Joining us all the way from countries like India, Philippines, America, Uganda, Myammar and Malaysia, viewers interacted with our hosts through the chat box and stood a chance to walk away with Faithworks book vouchers.
Even though the past year has had its challenges, new opportunities to connect across borders have arisen due to the global pandemic. Gathering together as one big Cornerstone Global family is just one of the things we are tremendously grateful for.
Different pastors and leaders from the Cornerstone Global Network, including Cornerstone Philippines, Spain and Myanmar shared about how God has been moving in the midst of the pandemic. Despite challenges, there have been opportunities to reach out and meet needs, or to advance digitally so that church can go online during this season.
Pastor Yang shared his heart on the vision of the House for 2021, touching on what to expect in the year ahead of us and the importance of unity. It is when we can come to this place of being One, then we will see God multiply everything.
Firstly, we can expect a greater move of the supernatural this year. Ps Yang exhorted us to be filled with the Holy Spirit, to trust and believe that God will do the miraculous. The early church carried an atmosphere of signs and wonders, and Jesus promised in John 14:12 that “he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do.” We cannot do the work of God with human strength alone, and it is when we are filled by Him then will there be grace to minister to others.
Secondly, there will come an increase in fruitfulness as we abide in the Lord. Sharing a dream Chris Berglund had for the church, Ps Yang emphasised that the victories we will have in the church will come from that place of abiding in God, referencing John 15, Psalm 15 and Romans 15.
Finally, we need to prepare for revival and get ready to maintain it. The keys to this are found in Acts 2:42, where the early church steadfastly devoted themselves to the preaching of the Word, fellowship, communion and prayer. With these foundations in place, revival fire was kept burning long after the Day of Pentecost! As the world becomes a darker place, it is promised that the church will be more glorious than at any time in history, and we want to be ready for all that God is going to do.
Together as one Global Cornerstone family, we say a resounding “yes” to all God has in store for us in 2021! Truly, He can do exceedingly more than we can ask or imagine.
