Kids At Prayer was birthed out of a vision the Lord released about four years ago. Maureen Low, who currently leads the children’s church, saw an army of three generations that were in full armour.
Each member of the battalion had a shield and sword in their hands, and you could see the adults in the back row. The second row was filled by the youths and the first row was made up of children! What intrigued Maureen was that these children were age five onwards and they were wearing armour in their own size. The fit was perfect for every child and they each had their own shield and sword that was just right for their little hands.
Sometime in April, the Lord brought this vision to mind and the church felt that it was time to train and equip the children in the area of prayer. Pastor Dian also had a vision of children holding their fit-for-size megaphones surrounding Maureen, and he sensed the Lord was giving the children a prophetic voice. The children’s church started a three-day teaching series for 9 to 12-year-olds on prayer over Zoom, with the purpose of helping these young ones kickstart a life of prayer.
Held from 16-18 June, the focus was on equipping the children with simple and practical ways to pray. We had a total of 38 children attend the sessions and they had a great time with the daily challenges, something they could do when they got up in the morning. Many of them also found using scriptures to pray very helpful.
Our children were getting downloads from the Lord during the breakout sessions and some of them even had dreams.
One little boy, David, heard the Lord speak to him about the name of his baby brother. He went to his mum to tell her about it, and what was amazing was that his mum had received the same name from the Lord.
Another child, Samuel, had a dream of a temple and a lampstand. Naturally, he did not understand what the dream meant. He recalled that the lampstand was taken away in the dream and the scene changed to one where the temple was filled with snakes, carcasses, and dry bones. With some help from the facilitators, the interpretation was that the lampstand needed to be mended. He needed the Holy Spirit upon him all the time.

As the children did the daily challenges, the Lord also met them in a special way. Eleven-year-old Jeremy saw a vision of healthy growing plants, and heard the Lord speak to him while he was reading Psalm 91 in the morning. “This is a place of habitation and not visitation,” was what he received, a very profound word for someone of his age!
There is no junior Holy Spirit! God is raising up young prayer warriors in our midst.
God is doing an amazing work among the little ones and parents have shared that their children found confidence to pray. To keep them growing in prayer, the children’s church has also started holding monthly children’s prayer on the fourth Saturday of each month over Zoom. We believe that the children will be used mightily by the Lord to usher in the great end-time harvest. There is no junior Holy Spirit! God is raising up young prayer warriors in our midst.
The names of the children in this article have been changed to protect their identities.
